Restaurant Ambience Tagger

THE PROBLEM

Yelp business web-pages include an info panel to present important details of a business in a regular format.Restaurants include a number of specialized fields, including Ambience, Good for Kids, and Good for Groups.But these fields must all be manually updated by restaurant representatives or Yelp interns, even though some of it could probably be predicted.

PROCESS

We demonstrate that NLP can be used to craft a better auto-tagger for Ambience, Good for Kids, and Good for Groups fields in Yelp restaurant info panels. Our process has four steps:

• Data cleaning & organization
• Linguistic feature development
• Classification with non-linguistic features
• Classification using NLP
